How To Uninstall microcode.ctl On Debian 8

To uninstall microcode.ctl just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just microcode.ctl

Intel IA32/IA64 CPU Microcode Utility (transitional package)Debian 8.0contrib/oldlibs1.18~0+nmu2
sudo apt-get remove microcode.ctl

This will remove just the microcode.ctl package itself.

Uninstall microcode.ctl and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove microcode.ctl

This will remove the microcode.ctl package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for microcode.ctl then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge microcode.ctl

Or similarly, like this microcode.ctl

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove microcode.ctl
