How To Uninstall nvidia-kernel-common On Debian 8

To uninstall nvidia-kernel-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just nvidia-kernel-common

linuxNVIDIA binary kernel module support filescontrib/kernel20141201+1
sudo apt-get remove nvidia-kernel-common

This will remove just the nvidia-kernel-common package itself.

Uninstall nvidia-kernel-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove nvidia-kernel-common

This will remove the nvidia-kernel-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for nvidia-kernel-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge nvidia-kernel-common

Or similarly, like this nvidia-kernel-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove nvidia-kernel-common
