How To Uninstall libbitstream-dev On Debian 8

To uninstall libbitstream-dev just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libbitstream-dev

access to binary structures such as specified by MPEG, DVB, IETF and moreDebian 8.0libdevel1.0-1
sudo apt-get remove libbitstream-dev

This will remove just the libbitstream-dev package itself.

Uninstall libbitstream-dev and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libbitstream-dev

This will remove the libbitstream-dev package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libbitstream-dev then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libbitstream-dev

Or similarly, like this libbitstream-dev

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libbitstream-dev
