How To Uninstall libc-ares2 On Debian 8

To uninstall libc-ares2 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libc-ares2

asynchronous name resolverDebian 8.0libs1.10.0-2+deb8u1
sudo apt-get remove libc-ares2

This will remove just the libc-ares2 package itself.

Uninstall libc-ares2 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libc-ares2

This will remove the libc-ares2 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libc-ares2 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libc-ares2

Or similarly, like this libc-ares2

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libc-ares2
