How To Uninstall libgeos-ruby1.8 On Debian 8

To uninstall libgeos-ruby1.8 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libgeos-ruby1.8

Transitional package from libgeos-ruby1.8 to ruby-geosDebian 8.0ruby3.4.2-6
sudo apt-get remove libgeos-ruby1.8

This will remove just the libgeos-ruby1.8 package itself.

Uninstall libgeos-ruby1.8 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libgeos-ruby1.8

This will remove the libgeos-ruby1.8 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libgeos-ruby1.8 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libgeos-ruby1.8

Or similarly, like this libgeos-ruby1.8

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libgeos-ruby1.8
