How To Uninstall libgtest-dev On Debian 8

To uninstall libgtest-dev just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libgtest-dev

Google's framework for writing C++ tests - header filesDebian 8.0libdevel1.7.0-3
sudo apt-get remove libgtest-dev

This will remove just the libgtest-dev package itself.

Uninstall libgtest-dev and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libgtest-dev

This will remove the libgtest-dev package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libgtest-dev then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libgtest-dev

Or similarly, like this libgtest-dev

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libgtest-dev
