How To Uninstall libmagic1 On Debian 8

To uninstall libmagic1 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libmagic1

File type determination library using "magic" numbersDebian 8.0libs1:5.22+15-2+deb8u3
sudo apt-get remove libmagic1

This will remove just the libmagic1 package itself.

Uninstall libmagic1 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libmagic1

This will remove the libmagic1 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libmagic1 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libmagic1

Or similarly, like this libmagic1

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libmagic1
