How To Uninstall libsm6 On Debian 8

To uninstall libsm6 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libsm6

X11 Session Management libraryDebian 8.0libs2:1.2.2-1+b1
sudo apt-get remove libsm6

This will remove just the libsm6 package itself.

Uninstall libsm6 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libsm6

This will remove the libsm6 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libsm6 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libsm6

Or similarly, like this libsm6

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libsm6
