How To Uninstall magit On Debian 8

To uninstall magit just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just magit

Emacs interface for GitDebian 8.0vcs1.2.1-1
sudo apt-get remove magit

This will remove just the magit package itself.

Uninstall magit and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove magit

This will remove the magit package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for magit then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge magit

Or similarly, like this magit

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove magit
