How To Uninstall mariadb-common On Debian 8

To uninstall mariadb-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mariadb-common

MariaDB common metapackageDebian 8.0database10.0.30-0+deb8u2
sudo apt-get remove mariadb-common

This will remove just the mariadb-common package itself.

Uninstall mariadb-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mariadb-common

This will remove the mariadb-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mariadb-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mariadb-common

Or similarly, like this mariadb-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mariadb-common
