How To Uninstall mate-utils On Debian 8

To uninstall mate-utils just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mate-utils

MATE desktop utilitiesDebian 8.0x111.8.1+dfsg1-2+deb8u1
sudo apt-get remove mate-utils

This will remove just the mate-utils package itself.

Uninstall mate-utils and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mate-utils

This will remove the mate-utils package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mate-utils then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mate-utils

Or similarly, like this mate-utils

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mate-utils
