How To Uninstall medit On Debian 8

To uninstall medit just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just medit

Useful programming and around-programming text editorDebian 8.0editors1.2.0-1
sudo apt-get remove medit

This will remove just the medit package itself.

Uninstall medit and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove medit

This will remove the medit package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for medit then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge medit

Or similarly, like this medit

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove medit
