How To Uninstall mercurial-common On Debian 8

To uninstall mercurial-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mercurial-common

easy-to-use, scalable distributed version control system (common files)Debian 8.0vcs3.1.2-2+deb8u3
sudo apt-get remove mercurial-common

This will remove just the mercurial-common package itself.

Uninstall mercurial-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mercurial-common

This will remove the mercurial-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mercurial-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mercurial-common

Or similarly, like this mercurial-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mercurial-common
