How To Uninstall mew-beta On Debian 8

To uninstall mew-beta just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mew-beta

mail reader supporting PGP/MIME for Emacs (development version)Debian 8.0mail7.0.50~6.6+0.20140902-1+deb8u1
sudo apt-get remove mew-beta

This will remove just the mew-beta package itself.

Uninstall mew-beta and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mew-beta

This will remove the mew-beta package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mew-beta then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mew-beta

Or similarly, like this mew-beta

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mew-beta
