How To Uninstall mpich2 On Debian 8

To uninstall mpich2 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mpich2

Transitional dummy packageDebian 8.0devel3.1-5+b2
sudo apt-get remove mpich2

This will remove just the mpich2 package itself.

Uninstall mpich2 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mpich2

This will remove the mpich2 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mpich2 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mpich2

Or similarly, like this mpich2

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mpich2
