How To Uninstall msmtp-mta On Debian 8

To uninstall msmtp-mta just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just msmtp-mta

light SMTP client with support for server profiles - the regular MTADebian 8.0mail1.4.32-2
sudo apt-get remove msmtp-mta

This will remove just the msmtp-mta package itself.

Uninstall msmtp-mta and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove msmtp-mta

This will remove the msmtp-mta package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for msmtp-mta then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge msmtp-mta

Or similarly, like this msmtp-mta

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove msmtp-mta
