How To Uninstall msmtp On Debian 8

To uninstall msmtp just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just msmtp

light SMTP client with support for server profilesDebian 8.0mail1.4.32-2+b1
sudo apt-get remove msmtp

This will remove just the msmtp package itself.

Uninstall msmtp and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove msmtp

This will remove the msmtp package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for msmtp then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge msmtp

Or similarly, like this msmtp

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove msmtp
