How To Uninstall mutt On Debian 8

To uninstall mutt just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mutt

text-based mailreader supporting MIME, GPG, PGP and threadingDebian 8.0mail1.5.23-3
sudo apt-get remove mutt

This will remove just the mutt package itself.

Uninstall mutt and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mutt

This will remove the mutt package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mutt then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mutt

Or similarly, like this mutt

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mutt
