How To Uninstall mutter On Debian 8

To uninstall mutter just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mutter

lightweight GTK+ window managerDebian 8.0x113.14.4-1~deb8u1
sudo apt-get remove mutter

This will remove just the mutter package itself.

Uninstall mutter and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mutter

This will remove the mutter package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mutter then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mutter

Or similarly, like this mutter

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mutter
