How To Uninstall ngetty On Debian 8

To uninstall ngetty just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just ngetty

linuxgetty replacement - one single daemon for all consolescomm1.1-3
sudo apt-get remove ngetty

This will remove just the ngetty package itself.

Uninstall ngetty and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove ngetty

This will remove the ngetty package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for ngetty then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge ngetty

Or similarly, like this ngetty

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove ngetty
