How To Uninstall nginx On Debian 8

To uninstall nginx just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just nginx

linuxsmall, powerful, scalable web/proxy serverhttpd1.6.2-5+deb8u4
sudo apt-get remove nginx

This will remove just the nginx package itself.

Uninstall nginx and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove nginx

This will remove the nginx package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for nginx then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge nginx

Or similarly, like this nginx

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove nginx
