How To Uninstall nis On Debian 8

To uninstall nis just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just nis

linuxclients and daemons for the Network Information Service (NIS)net3.17-33
sudo apt-get remove nis

This will remove just the nis package itself.

Uninstall nis and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove nis

This will remove the nis package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for nis then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge nis

Or similarly, like this nis

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove nis
