How To Uninstall perl On Debian 8

To uninstall perl just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just perl

linuxLarry Wall's Practical Extraction and Report Languageperl5.20.2-3+deb8u6
sudo apt-get remove perl

This will remove just the perl package itself.

Uninstall perl and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove perl

This will remove the perl package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for perl then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge perl

Or similarly, like this perl

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove perl
