How To Uninstall python-backports.ssl-match-hostname On Debian 8

To uninstall python-backports.ssl-match-hostname just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just python-backports.ssl-match-hostname

sudo apt-get remove python-backports.ssl-match-hostname

This will remove just the python-backports.ssl-match-hostname package itself.

Uninstall python-backports.ssl-match-hostname and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove python-backports.ssl-match-hostname

This will remove the python-backports.ssl-match-hostname package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for python-backports.ssl-match-hostname then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge python-backports.ssl-match-hostname

Or similarly, like this python-backports.ssl-match-hostname

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove python-backports.ssl-match-hostname
