How To Uninstall varnish On Debian 8

To uninstall varnish just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just varnish

state of the art, high-performance web acceleratorDebian 8.0web4.0.2-1
sudo apt-get remove varnish

This will remove just the varnish package itself.

Uninstall varnish and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove varnish

This will remove the varnish package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for varnish then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge varnish

Or similarly, like this varnish

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove varnish
