How To Uninstall ack On Debian 9

To uninstall ack just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just ack

grep-like program specifically for large source treesDebian 9.0utils2.14-5
sudo apt-get remove ack

This will remove just the ack package itself.

Uninstall ack and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove ack

This will remove the ack package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for ack then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge ack

Or similarly, like this ack

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove ack
