How To Uninstall apt-file On Debian 9

To uninstall apt-file just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just apt-file

search for files within Debian packages (command-line interface)Debian 9.0admin3.1.4
sudo apt-get remove apt-file

This will remove just the apt-file package itself.

Uninstall apt-file and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove apt-file

This will remove the apt-file package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for apt-file then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge apt-file

Or similarly, like this apt-file

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove apt-file
