How To Uninstall bowtie2 On Debian 9

To uninstall bowtie2 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just bowtie2

ultrafast memory-efficient short read alignerDebian 9.0science2.3.0-2
sudo apt-get remove bowtie2

This will remove just the bowtie2 package itself.

Uninstall bowtie2 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove bowtie2

This will remove the bowtie2 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for bowtie2 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge bowtie2

Or similarly, like this bowtie2

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove bowtie2
