How To Uninstall build-essential On Debian 9

To uninstall build-essential just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just build-essential

Informational list of build-essential packagesDebian 9.0devel12.3
sudo apt-get remove build-essential

This will remove just the build-essential package itself.

Uninstall build-essential and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove build-essential

This will remove the build-essential package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for build-essential then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge build-essential

Or similarly, like this build-essential

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove build-essential
