How To Uninstall bzip2 On Debian 9

To uninstall bzip2 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just bzip2

high-quality block-sorting file compressor - utilitiesDebian 9.0utils1.0.6-8.1
sudo apt-get remove bzip2

This will remove just the bzip2 package itself.

Uninstall bzip2 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove bzip2

This will remove the bzip2 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for bzip2 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge bzip2

Or similarly, like this bzip2

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove bzip2
