How To Uninstall cifs-utils On Debian 9

To uninstall cifs-utils just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just cifs-utils

Common Internet File System utilitiesDebian 9.0otherosfs2:6.7-1
sudo apt-get remove cifs-utils

This will remove just the cifs-utils package itself.

Uninstall cifs-utils and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove cifs-utils

This will remove the cifs-utils package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for cifs-utils then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge cifs-utils

Or similarly, like this cifs-utils

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove cifs-utils
