How To Uninstall debian-reference On Debian 9

To uninstall debian-reference just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just debian-reference

metapackage to install (all) translations of Debian ReferenceDebian 9.0doc2.68
sudo apt-get remove debian-reference

This will remove just the debian-reference package itself.

Uninstall debian-reference and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove debian-reference

This will remove the debian-reference package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for debian-reference then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge debian-reference

Or similarly, like this debian-reference

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove debian-reference
