How To Uninstall dictd On Debian 9

To uninstall dictd just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just dictd

dictionary serverDebian 9.0text1.12.1+dfsg-4
sudo apt-get remove dictd

This will remove just the dictd package itself.

Uninstall dictd and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove dictd

This will remove the dictd package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for dictd then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge dictd

Or similarly, like this dictd

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove dictd
