How To Uninstall ecj1 On Debian 9

To uninstall ecj1 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just ecj1

java byte code compiler used by gcjDebian 9.0java3.11.1-1
sudo apt-get remove ecj1

This will remove just the ecj1 package itself.

Uninstall ecj1 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove ecj1

This will remove the ecj1 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for ecj1 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge ecj1

Or similarly, like this ecj1

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove ecj1
