How To Uninstall eclipse On Debian 9

To uninstall eclipse just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just eclipse

Extensible Tool Platform and Java IDEDebian 9.0devel3.8.1-10
sudo apt-get remove eclipse

This will remove just the eclipse package itself.

Uninstall eclipse and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove eclipse

This will remove the eclipse package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for eclipse then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge eclipse

Or similarly, like this eclipse

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove eclipse
