How To Uninstall elpa-vala-mode On Debian 9

To uninstall elpa-vala-mode just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just elpa-vala-mode

Emacs editor major mode for vala source codeDebian 9.0editors0.1-4
sudo apt-get remove elpa-vala-mode

This will remove just the elpa-vala-mode package itself.

Uninstall elpa-vala-mode and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove elpa-vala-mode

This will remove the elpa-vala-mode package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for elpa-vala-mode then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge elpa-vala-mode

Or similarly, like this elpa-vala-mode

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove elpa-vala-mode
