How To Uninstall etckeeper On Debian 9

To uninstall etckeeper just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just etckeeper

store /etc in git, mercurial, bzr or darcsDebian 9.0admin1.18.5-1
sudo apt-get remove etckeeper

This will remove just the etckeeper package itself.

Uninstall etckeeper and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove etckeeper

This will remove the etckeeper package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for etckeeper then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge etckeeper

Or similarly, like this etckeeper

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove etckeeper
