How To Uninstall ffmpeg On Debian 9

To uninstall ffmpeg just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just ffmpeg

Tools for transcoding, streaming and playing of multimedia filesDebian 9.0video7:3.2.5-1
sudo apt-get remove ffmpeg

This will remove just the ffmpeg package itself.

Uninstall ffmpeg and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove ffmpeg

This will remove the ffmpeg package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for ffmpeg then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge ffmpeg

Or similarly, like this ffmpeg

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove ffmpeg
