How To Uninstall figtree On Debian 9

To uninstall figtree just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just figtree

graphical phylogenetic tree viewerDebian 9.0science1.4.2+dfsg-2
sudo apt-get remove figtree

This will remove just the figtree package itself.

Uninstall figtree and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove figtree

This will remove the figtree package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for figtree then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge figtree

Or similarly, like this figtree

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove figtree
