How To Uninstall file On Debian 9

To uninstall file just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just file

Recognize the type of data in a file using "magic" numbersDebian 9.0utils1:5.30-1
sudo apt-get remove file

This will remove just the file package itself.

Uninstall file and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove file

This will remove the file package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for file then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge file

Or similarly, like this file

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove file
