How To Uninstall fonts-dejavu On Debian 9

To uninstall fonts-dejavu just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just fonts-dejavu

metapackage to pull in fonts-dejavu-core and fonts-dejavu-extraDebian 9.0fonts2.37-1
sudo apt-get remove fonts-dejavu

This will remove just the fonts-dejavu package itself.

Uninstall fonts-dejavu and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove fonts-dejavu

This will remove the fonts-dejavu package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for fonts-dejavu then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge fonts-dejavu

Or similarly, like this fonts-dejavu

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove fonts-dejavu
