How To Uninstall freenect On Debian 9

To uninstall freenect just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just freenect

library for accessing Kinect device -- metapackageDebian 9.0libs1:0.5.3-1+b2
sudo apt-get remove freenect

This will remove just the freenect package itself.

Uninstall freenect and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove freenect

This will remove the freenect package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for freenect then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge freenect

Or similarly, like this freenect

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove freenect
