How To Uninstall libpcap0.8 On Debian 9

To uninstall libpcap0.8 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libpcap0.8

system interface for user-level packet captureDebian 9.0libs1.8.1-3
sudo apt-get remove libpcap0.8

This will remove just the libpcap0.8 package itself.

Uninstall libpcap0.8 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libpcap0.8

This will remove the libpcap0.8 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libpcap0.8 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libpcap0.8

Or similarly, like this libpcap0.8

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libpcap0.8
