How To Uninstall mate-indicator-applet On Debian 9

To uninstall mate-indicator-applet just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mate-indicator-applet

MATE panel indicator appletDebian 9.0x111.16.0-1
sudo apt-get remove mate-indicator-applet

This will remove just the mate-indicator-applet package itself.

Uninstall mate-indicator-applet and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mate-indicator-applet

This will remove the mate-indicator-applet package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mate-indicator-applet then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mate-indicator-applet

Or similarly, like this mate-indicator-applet

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mate-indicator-applet
