How To Uninstall memcached On Debian 9

To uninstall memcached just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just memcached

high-performance memory object caching systemDebian 9.0web1.4.33-1
sudo apt-get remove memcached

This will remove just the memcached package itself.

Uninstall memcached and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove memcached

This will remove the memcached package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for memcached then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge memcached

Or similarly, like this memcached

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove memcached
