How To Uninstall openmpi-common On Debian 9

To uninstall openmpi-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just openmpi-common

linuxhigh performance message passing library -- common filesnet2.0.2-2
sudo apt-get remove openmpi-common

This will remove just the openmpi-common package itself.

Uninstall openmpi-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove openmpi-common

This will remove the openmpi-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for openmpi-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge openmpi-common

Or similarly, like this openmpi-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove openmpi-common
