How To Uninstall openssl On Debian 9

To uninstall openssl just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just openssl

linuxSecure Sockets Layer toolkit - cryptographic utilityutils1.1.0f-3
sudo apt-get remove openssl

This will remove just the openssl package itself.

Uninstall openssl and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove openssl

This will remove the openssl package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for openssl then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge openssl

Or similarly, like this openssl

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove openssl
