How To Uninstall readline-common On Debian 9

To uninstall readline-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just readline-common

GNU readline and history libraries, common filesDebian 9.0utils7.0-3
sudo apt-get remove readline-common

This will remove just the readline-common package itself.

Uninstall readline-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove readline-common

This will remove the readline-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for readline-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge readline-common

Or similarly, like this readline-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove readline-common
