How To Uninstall rsyslog On Debian 9

To uninstall rsyslog just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just rsyslog

reliable system and kernel logging daemonDebian 9.0admin8.24.0-1
sudo apt-get remove rsyslog

This will remove just the rsyslog package itself.

Uninstall rsyslog and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove rsyslog

This will remove the rsyslog package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for rsyslog then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge rsyslog

Or similarly, like this rsyslog

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove rsyslog
