How To Uninstall ruby-mecab On Debian 9

To uninstall ruby-mecab just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just ruby-mecab

mecab binding for Ruby languageDebian 9.0ruby0.99.6-2+b6
sudo apt-get remove ruby-mecab

This will remove just the ruby-mecab package itself.

Uninstall ruby-mecab and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove ruby-mecab

This will remove the ruby-mecab package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for ruby-mecab then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge ruby-mecab

Or similarly, like this ruby-mecab

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove ruby-mecab
